My works employ a kind of subverted archaeological process where I both create the dig site and engage in the digging. These handmade paper excavation sites - built by layering colored pulps on top of each other - are ripe for exploration. Pouring, painting, cutting, and tearing into the surface evokes remnants of earth, moldy detritus, sweeping vistas, and imagined landscapes. The denuded paper remains are reincorporated into drawings for further examination and classification.
