ARTIST STATEMENT
My current work explores the quiet tension between determined and undetermined forms. In these pieces, hard-edged forms and lines sink into muddled swamps, entangled gestures are obstructed and revealed, and crevices reveal both vacant and elaborate spaces. Sometime sensuous and sometimes rigid, these imagined landscapes explore the impenetrable, mysterious, and wondrous.
My work evolves from a slow and steady build up of washes of opaque and transparent color, creating increasingly atmospheric and reflective spaces. These meticulous constructions are developed with a deep consideration for my paintings’ surface, materiality, and history.
